Created by Margarita Barrios and Waldemar «Cachila» Silva, the Cultural Association Cuareim 1080 is,
besides a candombe troupe, a place of reference for the Afro collective in the Sur neighborhood.
Activities
Cuareim 1080 develops a large number of social and cultural activities for the neighborhood, ranging from a soup kitchen to a large number of training workshops in various artistic disciplines.
Margarita Barrios and the Silva dinasty
Margarita Barrios and Waldemar Silva created Cuareim 1080 paying homage to the past but with a vision of the future. She was a forerunner in the struggle for the rights of Afro-descendants and alma mater of the troupe. He, the bearer of a vertebral surname in the Afro culture that his children honor with responsibility.
